Pride is not just a sin; it is the essence of sin. It is what caused Satan to fall, what led Adam and Eve to rebel, and what keeps people from bowing before God today. When we elevate ourselves as the standard, we make ourselves the god of our own world. But the Bible warns that ‘God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble’ (James 4:6). Until we humble ourselves before God, we cannot truly see our need for His grace.
